Xerostom is a new oral hygiene line especially formulated for people suffering with dry mouth or xerostomia. Xerostom oral hygiene cleans and relieve dryness, lubricating and replenishing moisture in the oral cavity. It soothes the tissues while cleaning and protects the mouth from the cavities and bacterial plaque which appear as a result of the condition.

Convenient to use at any time of the day or night. Suck three to four pastilles a day when feeling dry mouth. Keep the pastilles in the mouth until dissolved completely.

How is saliva important?

Saliva helps to clean the mouth and its anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties enable it to protect the oral cavity from microbes which attack the teeth. Thus a decrease or change in composition of saliva affects the oral defense system, leading to cavities and periodontal alterations. Furthermore, a lack of saliva makes it difficult to talk, swallow and even taste food properly.

Can I lack saliva and not be aware of it?

Dry mouth or xerostomia can be present in both people with a low salivary secretion and those whose salivary function is normal. However, a series of questions has been devised to aid in the diagnosis of xerostomia. An affirmative response to even just one question is indicative of dry mouth.
